BBC / Somethin' Else: John Peel Tribute Website
Commissioned by the BBC's Radio and Music Interactive department, Keeping it Peel was launched to coincide with the first anniversary of the legendary broadcaster's early death. Given the length and diversity of John's career, this was always going to be a BIG project, but the resulting site is immense, with thousands of audio- and video-rich pages documenting the music and musicians that were championed by the late, great John Peel. Probably the most comprehensive and complete resource on the subject, the website back-end is an XML publishing system built by us in o:XML.
Many disparate data sources and content types had to be integrated into a single system, so that the vast amount of information could be managed and presented in a systematic and appealing way. Care had to be taken to allow contributors from varying backgrounds, from musical researchers through to software engineers, to interact efficiently with the content management system.
